Two Cents: May Edition

30 May

The purpose of this Two Cents series is to have a monthly “show and tell” per ATC the Change—a RAOK cause I cofounded. Each edition will feature some of the Change Cards I’ve made, along with other things I’ve done to make the world better one Change Card at a time. Change. Cents. Get it?

I’ll get to the dozen Change Cards I left since the last show and tell momentarily, but first, I’m pleased to report that I made 20 of the things on Memorial Day! Between Gabe working and Logan going to the beach with his grandparents, it was a good opportunity for me to drop everything and craft. These were the first 7 Change Cards I finally got around to making:

Since I just made the above on Monday, I haven’t abandoned any of those with love yet. I did leave 12 older ATCs, though! These were mainly ones I have been holding onto since last summer (for now irrelevant reasons). Four of those 12 Change Cards were left when my mom and I hung out the day after her birthday, like these two at Barnes and Noble:

Though I only “left” 12 ATCs, I also just sent a little over 30 to Sue as she bought up the last of the pre-made sets I had!

For the record, I won’t be making more sets to sell again due to a lack of interest. Now that the stash of Change Cards “on reserve” has been dwindled down, I can feel my motivation to make some more picking up a bit. That said, hopefully in the next edition of this Two Cents series I’ll have more creations to share, along with the highlights regarding the ATCs I share with others.

For now, though, I shall leave you with one last highlight from this past month; it’s not ATC-related, but it does pertain to my kind of kindness. At the restaurant the boys and I went to yesterday, Logan used the quarters I gave him to get a couple bouncy balls. Two of the balls wound up being identical, so he gave one to the little boy who was watching him at the machines ever so intently. The boy was ecstatic, thanking Logan on more than one occasion. It was a nice moment as well as an adorable reminder that a little kindness can go a long way.

If you feel so inclined, leave me a comment regarding the last time you bestowed a random act of kindness upon someone.

Take care and stay lovely!
Sincerely, Kate ~!~

Two Cents: April Edition

25 Apr

The purpose of this Two Cents series is to have a monthly “show and tell” per ATC the Change—a RAOK cause I cofounded. Each edition will feature some of the Change Cards I’ve made, along with other things I’ve done to make the world better one Change Card at a time. Change. Cents. Get it?

The main highlight since my last show and tell is that our Facebook group reached 100 members! I tried to have some giveaways in honor of the occasion, and though both sets were spoken for, it’s because only two people tried to claim them. Not going to lie, it’s a bit disheartening that we have 100+ members but still only a small amount of people who can “ATC the Change.” I’m at a loss of what I can do to make the movement spread.

And I think it’s because of this loss that I haven’t done a whole lot over the past month or so. Sure, I have left a handful of Change Cards out and about, but I started making an Easter-friendly batch right before April started, and I have yet to get around to finishing them because the motivation to do so just isn’t there.

Anyway, here are the pictures of the ATCs I left, mainly in restaurants, over the past month:

I think my mom and I are going to have to do something for her birthday next month so May’s Edition will not only be more fun for you to see, but fun for me to put together. April showers bring May flowers, right?

All the best from my screen to yours.
Sincerely, Kate ~!~

Two Cents: March Edition

28 Mar

The purpose of this Two Cents series is to have a monthly “show and tell” per ATC the Change—a RAOK cause I cofounded. Each edition will feature many of the Change Cards I’ve made, along with other things I’ve done to make the world better one Change Card at a time. Change. Cents. Get it?

Over the past few months I haven’t had too many highlights to share, but between my birthday festivities and spending this past weekend with my mom, March has thankfully been a good month to ATC the Change. Here are the highlights since February:

1. The birthday festivities I mentioned? On and around March 1st I left 7 Change Cards while I was/we were out and about. This one, for example, found a rather appropriate place to hang out at Target after I found new note cards to use via pen palling, hehe:

2. Two other ATCs were left on two non-birthday occasions.

3. I made sure to make a few Wonderland-friendly Change Cards to take with me when mom and I went out to eat this past weekend, mainly at Mad Hatter Bistro. As you can see, I managed to leave ’em, too:

4. I left 9 other cards while we were around the Troy area like at Barnes & Noble and in the lobby at Red Roof Inn. I would have liked to leave even more this past weekend, but because of how poorly mom and I slept at RRI we didn’t make any stops after brunch on Saturday morning.

A dent is a dent, though! Since selling sets of Change Cards didn’t really work out, I have all of those ATCs for my own use now. Maybe I’ll make it my goal to leave another 20 between now and April 25th, but no promises, lol. As long as I have a few more highlights to share I’ll be happy.

Until April!
Sincerely, Kate ~!~

Two Cents: January Edition

31 Jan

The purpose of this Two Cents series is to have a monthly “show and tell” per ATC the Change– a RAOK cause I cofounded. Each edition will feature many of the Change Cards I’ve made, along with other things I’ve done to make the world better one Change Card at a time. Change. Cents. Get it?

Some months will have more highlights than others, but this, unfortunately, is not one of those months. Between the resolutions I made and then getting sick, I didn’t make much let alone leave much. My game plan for February is to modify one of my resolutions, so instead of writing every day I have the house to myself, I have “Writing Wednesdays.” With less obligations during my free-time, it should– *knock on wood* –give me more opportunities to get my crafty on.

But we’ll talk about February on 2-28! Here are the few highlights since 12-27:

1. I left 7 of the Change Cards I made back in December.

2. Using a handful of the Christmas cards we received, I repurposed them into these Change Cards I’ll be able to leave come this December,

3. I also made some Wonderland-friendly ATCs after making backgrounds with my Spirograph, and I have been putting my dreamcatcher stamp to use, too.

I told you there were only a few! Oh! But if I wouldn’t have liked how my Pandora’s Box cards turned out via the Legendary theme per Little Cards, I would have written “Better an ‘oops’ than a ‘what if?'” on ’em and used them for ATC the Change instead, haha.

Well, whether I make a lot or a little in February, I’m looking forward to seeing what the next month has in store. And if you’re a pen pal of mine, you’ll be able to look forward to seeing ATCs tucked in with my letters like Valentines. Cheers!

Sincerely, Kate ~!~

Two Cents: December Edition

27 Dec

The purpose of this Two Cents series is to have a monthly “show and tell” per ATC the Change– a RAOK cause I cofounded. Each edition will feature many of the Change Cards I’ve made, along with other things I’ve done to make the world better one Change Card at a time. Change. Cents. Get it?

Usually these posts go on to share my highlights since the one that came before it, and if I would have written this last Wednesday, there would have been nothing to share aside from using up ATCs from before December started. I was worried that that might still be the case this week, but after making new cards this past Friday, this edition felt worthwhile after all.

On that note, here are my highlights–however few–since November.

1. Like I mentioned above, I left several older Change Cards. When Gabe and I saw Coco a couple weeks ago, I officially used the last oldie in my arsenal.

2. Using a treat bag Logan got from school, I made these 5 ATCs and managed to leave a few when we were out “getting our merry on.”

3. Other ATCs I managed to make this month include 4 with Thanksgiving-friendly phrases, 9 that say “Give your dreams the wings to fly,” and these 4 using note cards I recycled:

4. Though I sadly haven’t sold any more of the sets I’ve made, I have given several Change Cards away. Sets, for the record, are groups of 9 cards each that I make for people unable to make them themselves for whatever reason.

Whether I’m more successful selling sets in the new year, or I just make Change Cards for my own use from now on, I’m excited to see what 2018 has in store for ATC the Change. Personally I think I’m going to steer away from using weekly phrases, and just make whatever speaks to me– maybe then instead of January’s Edition being a whisper, it will be a bang.

Happy New Year, Bleaders!
Sincerely, Kate ~!~

Two Cents: November Edition

29 Nov

The purpose of this Two Cents series is to have a monthly “show and tell” per ATC the Change– a RAOK cause I cofounded. Each edition will feature many of the Change Cards I’ve made, along with other things I’ve done to make the world better one Change Card at a time. Change. Cents. Get it? Here are the highlights since last month’s post:

1. By Halloween I left all but 1 of my festive Change Cards.

2. One of said cards was left around the McDonald’s Play Place while Logan played, only to be found while we were still there. The mother told her daughters how it was like the Kindness Rocks they found before, and then asked me if I knew about those. I admitted that I’ve painted a few, and that I made that card, too. An even larger conversation and a photo op followed– how amazing is that?

3. Despite such a high, I experienced a lull the beginning of November. Around the middle of the month, though, I made up for lost time and made 24 Change Cards including these six in honor of World Kindness Day:

4. Since restocking a bit I left a dozen more cards, and have been wanting to see if one of my aunts and her friend will order any of the sets I’ve made. What’s a set? For $5, I am offering groups of 9 Change Cards that are ready to be left as Random Acts of Kindness. Please see this post if you’d like more information.

And if you’d like to join our Facebook headquarters, click me! Random FYI, but our group is currently 12 members away from 100 which is a bit of a highlight, too.

Well, the highlights may be few, but they were fun, and I think December should be a fun month for ATC the Change, too. Happiness, after all, doesn’t result from what we get, but what we give, and I want to give out tons of Change Cards 😀 Wish me luck!

Sincerely, Kate ~!~

Two Cents: October Edition

25 Oct

The purpose of this Two Cents series is to have a monthly “show and tell” per ATC the Change– a RAOK cause I cofounded. Each edition will feature many of the Change Cards I’ve made, along with other things I’ve done to make the world better one Change Card at a time. Change. Cents. Get it? Here are the highlights since last month’s post:

1. First of all, I made about 20 Change Cards this time around, and have left 3. Yeah, I haven’t gotten out much, sorry.

2. Krista, who I mentioned last time, also left 3 of the cards I made for her during her travels. She’s willing to dip her toes a bit more, so I’ll be sending her a couple more ATCs the next time I write her.

3. Though they’re mainly for my own use, making ATCs for Halloween and Autumn in general was a must. Here are samples of each of the inspirational-ish phrases I used:

4. Also a must? These donut-friendly ATCs thanks to the new stamps also pictured:

5. Sue. who bought sets of Change Cards from me before, bought another four! If you could ever use some cards to leave as random acts of kindness, check out this post of mine.

Not going to lie, October hasn’t been as productive of a month as I expected it to be. The good news, though, is I’m seeing my mom this weekend so I/we will have the opportunity to leave more ATCs. And knowing us, I’ll come home with some new supplies and the motivation to put ’em to use 😀

If you ever find yourself motivated to join our cause, you can find our Facebook headquarters: ATC the Change; otherwise you can find my Two Cents about it again on November 29th!

Sincerely, Kate ~!~
