Two Cents: August Edition

30 Aug

On the last Wednesday of last month, I started the blog series Two Cents. The purpose of Two Cents is to have a monthly “show and tell,” featuring many of the Change Cards I’ve made, along with other things I’ve done to make the world better one Change Card at a time. Change. Cents. Get it? 😉 Here are the highlights since that first post:

1. Using an old collage and then a new phrase provided by Vikki, I started August with some AWESOME ATCs to use:

2. I stayed with my mom not once, not twice, but three times in August, and a total of 27 Change Cards were left while in her neck of the woods.

3. And if you want to leave Change Cards in your neck of the woods, see this blog post of mine because I’m officially selling sets of 9 cards for $5 each!

4. I’m pleased to report I sold 4 sets already– so what if they were all to the same woman? Hehe. I definitely found one heck of a supporter in Sue; she recently gifted me with a bunch of scraps which led to gifting her with this bonus set:

5. I was hoping to find even more like-minded individuals at a rock painting event at Michael’s recently, only to find it was just kids painting while their parents loitered behind them. Knowing what I know now, I’m still interested in potentially networking at similar events, but if/when I go to the Rocking Meet & Greet at a nearby park in a couple weeks, my son is going with me 😛

6. Speaking of my son, this past Sunday Logan helped me release two helium balloons out into the universe, each with an ATC attached! Here’s Logan with one of them before the launch:

And 7. It’s also worth noting our Facebook group, ATC the Change, is now less than 25 members away from 100! You’re welcome to join us and our cause if you haven’t done so already.

I’m not too sure what September has in store for ATC the Change, but I’m excited for it, and to share my Two Cents with you again when the 27th rolls around. If there’s anything else you’d like to see in this series, by the way, please let me know!

Sincerely, Kate ~!~

Kindness for Sale

23 Aug

There are a few things that are likely pretty obvious throughout Sincerely Kate. Pen palling, for starters, is undoubtedly my favorite hobby; I’m rather obsessed with Alice in Wonderland; and when it comes to ATCs, I’ve been known to run a mile with each inch of an idea. After all, I liked turning junk into treasure; I created the almost 2-year-old adventure that is Little Cards; and last year I cofounded ATC the Change.

When I last wrote about the latter, I said that creating Change Cards has made me love ATCs even more since they went from being small pieces of artwork to something with big meaning. The thing is though, I have way more time to make Change Cards than I have opportunities to leave them places, and this led to another inch of an idea…

Do you– yes, you!– love the idea of ATC the Change, but don’t have the time or ambition to make Change Cards? Well, I would like to help you spread kindness like confetti! For $5 each, I’m willing to send you a trading card protector sheet with a total of 9 mystery cards tucked into its pockets. Below are a few examples of sets I have built!

Should you decide you’d like one of my mystery sets, it will be sent to you with the Change Cards all ready to join you on your next outing(s). They even have information about the cause on their backside, so literally all you have to do is leave them on a table at a restaurant, tuck them in a library book, or put ’em anywhere else your heart desires. Pictures from these endeavors are welcome, of course, but they’re not mandatory.

So how can you order? You can email me at sincerelykate@hotmail.com, and I will send you an invoice via paypal– I hope that’s okay! Down the road I’d like to create an Etsy shop, but I’d like to sell at least 10 of these mystery sets before I commit to such a thing since I don’t know how many people are actually interested just yet. I appreciate your patience as I figure things out!

And I appreciate you reading this sales pitch of mine if you are, in fact, still reading, haha. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask me either in the comments here, or via the email address I provided up there ^ . Looking forward to helping you help make the world a little bit better, one little Change Card at a time.

Sincerely, Kate ~!~

Little Cards: June and July

21 Aug

A silly little fact? I actually had all of July’s Little Cards before I had all of them from June. Granted, last month we solely revisited the Summer Blockbusters theme, and there were only three of us who participated, but still 😉 I imagine I would have actually gotten both month’s Little Cards around the same time had someone’s Wizard of Oz ones not gotten lost somewhere over the rainbow or something, but new ATCs were made, and so now this blog post has been made!

June:

Summer:

The Wizard of Oz:

July:

Summer Blockbusters:

With any luck it won’t be another two months before I have 4 Fair & Festival and 6 Disney Sidekicks cards to show you, but just like the Wizard of Oz set– and happy mail in general, better late than never!

Ciao for now!
Sincerely, Kate ~!~

Hail the Snail 2.34

15 Aug

August 2nd: This mail call is not only starting with a letter from Jody, but, per Logan’s request, the illustrated version of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

August 5th: It was a rather slow week for snail mail, but it ended on a high note thanks to Justine.

August 10th: Another letter from Jody for me while Logan got another package– this one had Star Trek pop-up books my dad thought he needed, haha.

August 11th: Gabe and I got an invitation to something from someone, but mum’s the word 😉

Admittedly the mail hasn’t been too exciting this month, but that doesn’t mean this month hasn’t been exciting!

Exhibit A: Last Thursday my siblings and I were at the same place at the same time along with 3 of our spouses and 2 of our kids. My mom also invited our grandparents 😀

Exhibit B: Today is Logan’s first day of first grade!

Needless to say, August has been treating my family pretty well, and I think the second half may treat our mailbox pretty well, too. Today, for example, is the day my LitCube ships! The theme this month? “Alice in Steampunk Wonderland” so of course I couldn’t resist! I have a feeling I won’t be waiting until my next mail call to show you what was enclosed 😉

As for this mail call, I think here will be where I leave you… especially since I promised someone an intro letter, hehe. Take care, Bleaders!

Sincerely, Kate ~!~

Hail the Snail 2.33

1 Aug

July 17th: This mail call is starting with happy mail from two of my favorite Michiganders. I got a postcard from Krista, and a letter from Sarah.

July 18th: My favorite bear got some happy mail next because #ThisIsHowWeRoll 😛

Logan thought Buster should also be in the picture 😛

July 19th: I heard from Sarah again, and got the first of the two letters from Jody this mail call, too.

July 20th: There might not have been any letters to respond to today, but thanks to the Queen concert, I got tons of letter fodder, hehe.

July 24th: Still no letters, but my dad sent me and the Loganator postcards.

July 26th: The second letter of Jody’s in this mail call? That came today.

July 27th: As if they did it on purpose, I got letters from both Krista and Kristy.

July 28th: And last, but not least, was a letter from Ashley.

In my last mail call, I said that “all in all, it’s been a pretty good month so far,” and the second half was very good, too! The highlight was definitely seeing Queen and Adam Lambert in concert, so much so Gabe and I would see them again if they opportunity presented itself and Logan would want to come with, hehe. Speaking of the boys, I have been getting much more quality time with them now that wheat harvest is over. This past Sunday, for example, we met my mom and Dave over at Pizza Hut before heading over to the Children’s Zoo, ensuring our 7th wedding anniversary was very much a happy one.

I’m looking forward to seeing what August has in store for us, especially since Logan starts first grade in just two more weeks! And of course, I’m also looking forward to what I/we will get in the mail. Ciao!

Sincerely, Kate ~!~
